Product Features
1. Pneumatic/Hydraulic Operation
Functions by being inflated with a medium (typically compressed air, sometimes water or hydraulic fluid) through a standard valve connection.
2. High Friction Surface
The outer rubber surface is designed to have a high coefficient of friction to grip, lift, or hold objects securely without slipping or causing surface damage.
3. Elastic and Flexible
Made from highly flexible elastomers, allowing it to conform to irregular shapes and surfaces easily when deflated and during the initial inflation phase.
4. Reinforced Construction
Internally reinforced with high-tensile strength fabric or cords (like nylon or aramid) to contain the inflation pressure, prevent over-expansion, and provide structural integrity and durability.
5. Rapid Action
Inflates and deflates quickly, enabling fast cycling and efficient operation in industrial processes.
6. Variable Diameter/Force
Its external diameter and resulting gripping force are directly and precisely controlled by the internal inflation pressure.
Application
● Material Handling & Robotics
Gripping End-Effectors: Used as soft, adaptable grippers on robotic arms and automation systems to handle delicate, fragile, or irregularly shaped items (e.g., glass bottles, food products, automotive parts).
Lifting Equipment: Employed in custom lifting devices to hoist and move heavy rolls (paper, steel, textiles), pipes, concrete pipes, and other cylindrical objects.
● Manufacturing & Assembly:
Precision Positioning: Used for centering and aligning components (like bearings, gears, pulleys) onto shafts during press-fitting operations.
Clamping & Fixturing: Acts as a temporary expandable mandrel or chuck to hold workpieces securely from their inside diameter during machining (turning, milling, grinding) or welding.
● Sealing & Blocking:
Pipe Testing: Used as inflatable pipe plugs or test plugs to block, isolate, or pressure-test sections of pipelines, sewers, and ducts.
Leak Testing: Creates a seal within a component to allow for pressure decay or flow leak testing in manufacturing.
● Couplings & Power Transmission:
Taper-Lock Bushings: Used in shrink-fit tool holders and locking assemblies where inflation creates a rigid, zero-backlash connection between a tool and a machine spindle (e.g., in machining centers).
Friction Clutches & Brakes: Transmit torque or provide braking force through frictional contact when inflated.
Advantages
1. Gentle Handling
The compliant rubber surface prevents marring, scratching, or damaging sensitive surfaces, making it ideal for finished products and fragile materials.
2. High Grip Force
Generates a very strong holding force relative to its size and weight, enabling the handling of heavy loads.
3. Adaptability
Conforms perfectly to uneven, tapered, or out-of-round shapes, ensuring a secure and distributed grip. A single sleeve can handle a wide range of sizes.
4. Precision & Control
The gripping force and diameter can be finely and instantly adjusted by regulating the inflation pressure, allowing for highly precise positioning and control.
