Mooring Pillar

A Mooring Pillar, commonly known as a bollard, is a heavy-duty, robust fixture installed on docks, wharves, breakwaters, and other marine structures. Its primary function is to provide a secure and reliable mooring point for vessels. By fastening mooring lines, it secures ships in place, ensuring safe berthing and resisting the forces of wind, waves, and currents. As a critical link between vessel and shore, it is an essential piece of infrastructure for port and harbor operations.

    Product Features

    1. Robust Construction
Fabricated from high-strength steel (e.g., Q235B, Q345B) through casting or welding, ensuring superior structural integrity and load-bearing capacity.

    2. Diverse Designs
Available in various designs such as standard straight, twin-horn (bollard), and cross types to accommodate different mooring requirements and operational practices.

    3. High-Performance Finish
Typically features hot-dip galvanization, marine-grade heavy-duty anti-corrosion paint, or epoxy coating, providing exceptional resistance to corrosion and seawater erosion.

    4. Smooth Surfaces
All edges are smoothed to prevent chafing and cutting of mooring lines during operation.

    5. Easy Installation
Designed with base plates and pre-drilled bolt holes for quick and secure installation into concrete foundations or steel structures.

    FAQ

    • 1.Mooring pillars come in various shapes (single cross, double cross, horn type). How do I choose? Which is best for our small inland river dock?

    • 2. How do I know what size and pulling capacity bollard to buy? Does it require complex calculations?

No complex calculations are needed on your part. Selecting the right bollard size and capacity is primarily based on the maximum vessel tonnage your dock is designed to accommodate. General rules of thumb:
      •Small fishing boats/yachts: Choose light-duty bollards rated around 50-100kN.
•Inland river cargo ships (~1000 tons): Typically require medium-duty bollards rated 150-250kN.
•Coastal cargo/passenger ships (5000+ tons): Require heavy-duty quay bollards rated 350kN and above.
Just inform us of your primary vessel tonnage, and we will recommend suitable specifications based on industry standards, providing Safe Working Load certification.
