Today, we tackle the toughest challenge: selecting O-rings for extreme environments—high pressure, vacuum, corrosive chemicals, or rapid temperature swings. One size does not fit all. High-Pressure Hydraulic Systems

Pressures exceeding 30 MPa demand high-hardness NBR or HNBR (Shore A 80–90) with thick cross-section (≥3.55 mm) and backup rings to prevent extrusion. For oil-based fluids, NBR is cost-effective; for higher temperatures, HNBR lasts 2–3 times longer. We recently supplied HNBR O-rings for a 500-ton press that operates at 45 MPa. They have run for 18 months with no leakage.

High-Temperature and Fire-Resistant Applications

Engine compartments, turbochargers, and exhaust systems see sustained temperatures above 150°C. FKM handles 200°C continuously. For spikes to 250°C, perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) is required. Aircraft engines also demand low outgassing to prevent contamination of sensors. Our FKM O-rings meet NASA low-outgassing specifications.

Chemical Processing and Acid Service

Handling sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, or aggressive solvents? PTFE-coated FKM or FFKM are the only choices. FFKM resists nearly all chemicals and operates from -20°C to 260°C.
