A D-seal is named for its shape: a flat mounting base with a rounded D-shaped top. The flat base mounts in a channel or on a flat surface with adhesive. When the door or panel closes, the rounded top compresses against the mating surface. The hollow or solid interior determines the compression force:

Hollow D-seals: Require lower closing force. The hollow cavity collapses under compression. Best for applications with limited closing force (hand-operated doors, lightweight panels).
